Day 18 What's New Pussy Cat?

Day 18 What's New Pussy Cat?

I caught this lovely photo of my cat Molly today. I like the angles, its almost as though there's an invisible diagonal line drawn down the middle, one side green leaves, the other tortoiseshell

Day 17 New York, New York!

Day 17 New York, New York!

Thought I'd try out some work with reflections today and used an ornament I had at home. I usually wouldn't like the glare from the room light but I think it works well here

Day 16 Lets Twist Again

Day 16 Lets Twist Again

I'm very pleased to have inherited a grape vine from the previous owners of my house. I love how the tendrils twist and curl around the fence posts like fingers reaching out and clinging on for dear life

I used a shallow depth of field and got the angle just right so you can see the vine stretching out behind

Day 15 Living Doll

Day 15 Living Doll

At my parents today I noticed my childhood doll in the corner of the room. She was sat there with the other toys my parents keep for when my nieces and nephews go to stay with them. I thought she had an eerie look sat, wide eyed and staring straight ahead and the reflection in the window added to the abandon look she had

Day 14 Flowers in the Window

Day 14 Flowers in the Window

I went to a Speakeasy bar for cocktails last night and this window with black lace curtains really caught my eye. I love the black against the dusky blue sky outside and the street light shining through

Day 13 Flying Ford Anglia

Day 13 Flying Ford Anglia

Thought I'd combine two things I love today and took a photo of Harry Potter Lego! I tried to make this one look like the car was actually flying by taking it outside with the sky as a backdrop.

Day 12 Oooh Honey Honey

Day 12 Oooh Honey Honey

I had an hour to spare before meeting my colleagues for dinner so I headed up to the Downs planning on taking some landscape photos. Instead I spotted these little fellas gathering nectar!. I love bees ( I have a tattoo of two bees on my foot) and they play a vital role in pollinating crops around the world.

Day 11 Filthy Habit

Day 11 Filthy Habit

Thought I'd try something different today, I think this photo looks a little retro, maybe due to the 60's looking sunglasses or maybe because you don't see many photos of people smoking these days

Day 10 Tender is the Touch

Day 10 Tender is the Touch

Thought I'd try an abstract today and took this close up of a meat tenderiser in the natural light from the window

Day 7 Campfire Sing Song

Day 7 Campfire Sing Song

Little one listening to the Steve's sing along round the camp fire.

I like this photo as I feel it tells a story, you can just see the light of the camp fire in the background and Steve just out of focus leading the sing song

Day 6 Howdy Partner

I have just got back from four glorious days camping in the sun with lots of beautiful memories.

Day 5 Gossip & Garlic Bread

Dropped in to have a drink and a catch up with my friend and ended up having a little snack as well as a gossip!

I took this photo quickly before they were all gone focusing on the warm fluffy dough ball at the front!

Day 4 Birthday Girl

Day 4 Birthday Girl

I met my cousins this evening to celebrate one of their birthdays and got this beautiful picture of the birthday girl.
It was hard getting much practice in today as suddenly everyone became camera shy when I started pointing the lens at them but I love her smile in this photo.

Day 3 Baby Blues

Day 3 Baby Blues

Tried to take some black and white portraits of my new nephew but he was particularly wriggly this afternoon!
This one isn't perfectly in focus but I love his expression! You can almost hear that scream!

Day 2 Enchanted

Day 2 Enchanted

I practised more shallow depth of field photography whilst sat on the field reading my book after work today as I waited for my first Pilates class.
This photo of my book Stardust was taken with my compact Fuji film X10 set on to aperture priority focusing on the word Enchated!

Day 1 Lavender

Day 1 Lavender

Today I completed an fantastic afternoon's photography course. The teacher was great and in four hours I learnt some simple but vital photography lessons. I thought this would be the perfect time to start a photography blog and begin practising!

As soon as I got home I started to put my new knowledge into practice and began trying out some shallow depth of feid photography in my garden. This photo was taken on aperture priority.
